Problem is it can't be disabled and the alert startles you. We replaced one just to have another go several months later so we just live with it. Cost to replace one of them is around $275. Flat tire sensors started to go at around 80k miles giving warnings that tires were going fast when they weren't. It's been replaced a couple times at our expense but continues to be a problem. Problem was fumes escaping from the gas fill nossel. Exhaust system continually triggers the engine light. Several years later Ford comes out and admits a problem with it and would replace it. Throttle body went out early on Ford refused to replace it so we paid to have it done.

Ford Escape has been continuously problematic. We've had 3 prior Ford Vehicles 89 Ranger, 88 Bronco II, and a Mercury Lynx. I may be better off selling off parts since they apparently carry way more value than a traditional trade-in.Would not but another Ford. Hopefully a recall becomes available in the near future or I may be forced to trade this car in rather than put out so much money for such a seemingly minor issue. The fact that they occasionally work tells me that it could be another issue but the dealership is pretty confident that it is the agitator. The dealership(s) (I have spoken to 2 certified Ford Dealerships in the process) have NEVER seen all 4 door latches go. In doing my research, it is difficult for me to believe that there hasn't been a recall on this problem since so many other people have had door latch/agitator problems with Ford Escapes. The car was perfect for my size (6'4) and worked great when all of the current issues were not issues. So now I have a car worth about $8,500 with about 25-30% of its value in those door latches.

I took it back to the dealer, who was extremely courteous, and they gave me a written quote of $2,200 for the 4 door latches/agitators plus another $500.00 for the door that wouldn't open problem.

But my driver side rear door now wasn't opening AT ALL. Beginning summer of 2015 all four doors were/are only working with the remote about 1 out of 10 times. It was especially difficult to imagine that a car worth around $10,000 had 20% of its value in door latches and agitators. I knew the problem wasn't going to fix itself but it was more than I could afford at the time. I took it to the dealer and the verbal quote to fix the problem was "around $2000.00". Fast forward to the fall of 2014 and now 3 of my 4 doors were giving me problems. My driver side always (and still does) work with an old fashioned key turn process.

Since I didn't always open all 4 doors and it was happening only once in a while it wasn't that much of a hindrance. When I reached roughly the 40,000 mile mark in early 2014 I began to see problems with my door latches opening with the remote key fob ( I realize the mileage has NOTHING to do with the door agitators). I had a drive shaft issue which was fixed by the dealer as a recall item. I bought my 2010 Ford Escape used with 27,000 miles on it in October, 2012.

It gets good gas mileage I have the V6 engine with 230hp lots of get up and go but still average 26mpg I read somewhere that the 2010 hybrids are known to be high mileage cars(300k) and I am hoping that will crossover somewhat to mine time will tell but I read about brand new cars with all kinds of issues and I'm holding onto mine for awhile!!

I Love my Ford Escape and I will drive it until the wheels fall off and I have never felt like that towards any of my previous cars.
#2010 FORD ESCAPE XLT PROBLEMS WINDOWS#
I took it on a long road trip last year with no problems it is actually very comfortable for long drives(I have the Leather and its Just Right for me) What I especially love about it is the Big Windows and Blind Spot I feel very safe in it as the Visibility is Very Good and my Fave feature the Pop Up Rear Window great for popping open and grabbing a beach chair or groceries quickly. I have taken care of it but really haven't had to do a lot of repairs beside replacing tires, oil changes and replacing brakes a couple of window regulators had to be replaced but I've had it 8 years and an ac compressor and water pump last year thats it. I haven't had too many recalls on it(I think 4) and got them taken care of no problem as of now it also doesn't have the takata airbag recall either. I have to honestly say this is the most reliable, solid car/suv I have ever owned and I have owned a Honda and Toyota previously and a 2000 Ford Taurus that reached 210,000 miles before I decided to get an SUV.
